Fishers island

fig.jpeg

Fishers Island Golf Club was ranked #9 in the United States in 2022. The private country club includes tennis and a beach club in addition to the championship golf. The links-style golf complete with steep bunkers, punch bowl greens, and tight fairways, is a great challenge for even the most experienced golfers.

The only problem with Fishers Island Golf? Transportation. The town of Fishers Island operates ferries that run between Fishers Island, NY, and New London, CT. This creates a massive transportation dilemma for golfers coming from Long Island.

Long Island is home to the highest caliber style golfers, especially in the area of Shinnecock, Long Island National, Friar’s Head, and many more courses. If someone from Long Island was given the opportunity to play Fisher’s Island, their journey would start much earlier than their tee time. First, Long Islanders would have to drive to Orient Point and get on the Cross Sound Ferry. This ferry takes 1 hour and 20 minutes to reach New London, also passing Fishers Island on the starboard side. They would then need to take another 45-minute ferry from New London to Fishers Island, after most likely enduring some layover between the two boats.

To summarize, a golfer from The Hamptons would:

  1. Drive to Orient Point - 1 hour

  2. Take Cross Sound Ferry - 1 hour and 20 minutes

  3. Transfer Ferries in New London

  4. Ferry to Fishers Island - 45 minutes

This is three hours plus of travel time, which does not

include layovers and delays, to only travel 70 miles.

Let Charters in The Hamptons solve this problem. We can transport golfers from The Hamptons in luxury on a private boat charter. From Sag Harbor, the boat trip takes just under 1 hour and 30 minutes. Onboard the guests can relax, listen to music, and have a pre-round cocktail all while taking in the views of The Long Island Sound. The captain will provide details on return times and details.
