Here is the problem with getting to Fishers Island: there is no direct public ferry from Long Island. The public ferry runs from New London, Connecticut. From the East End, that means driving or riding a ferry to Connecticut first, then crossing back. A private boat from Charters in The Hamptons turns that half-day of logistics into one direct trip on the water.

We are a family-run charter operation based on Shelter Island, with custom pickup at Greenport on the North Fork and Sag Harbor on the South Fork. Every trip runs with a USCG-licensed captain. Our captains, Mike and JT, earned their licenses in 2019 and have run more than 200 charters in these waters.

Why private transport beats the ferry route

The ferry route was built for Connecticut. If you are starting from the Hamptons, the North Fork, or Shelter Island, it points you the wrong way. Private transport fixes three things at once.

Direct routing. You board on the East End and step off at the island dock. No Connecticut detour and no car line.

Your schedule. Ferries run on their timetable. Your captain runs on yours. Morning drop-off and evening return, or a same-day round trip. You set the times when you book.

The crossing itself. The run out passes some of the best water on the East End, including the Plum Gut and Race area at the mouth of Long Island Sound. On the ferry, that is a commute. On a private boat, it is part of the day.

Golf outings and club events

Many of our Fishers Island trips are golf trips. If your foursome has a tee time or an event on the island, we handle the water leg both ways. You skip the Connecticut drive, and your clubs ride with you. Tell us your tee time and we will plan the departure around it. One nuance most pages skip: the island's golf club is private, open to members and their guests. Set your tee time with your host first. Once it is booked, we handle the water both ways.

How a trip works

Trips depart from our Shelter Island home dock, or we can pick you up at Greenport or Sag Harbor. We carry up to six passengers, the USCG limit for uninspected vessels. You bring your group and gear. We provide USCG life jackets for everyone on board. Want to build the crossing into a bigger day? An 8-hour full-day charter can pair the crossing with a swim stop or a dock-up lunch on the way back..
